HOUSTON, Texas - The Murder City Devils, a Seattle-based garage punk rock band, performed a packed setlist that included songs like "Rum to Whiskey" and "Press Gang" on January 13th, 2019, at White Oak Music Hall. Lead singer, Spencer Moody, unexpectedly entered the audience and serrated the attentive fans. Every song was executed perfectly by The Murder City Devils. That is the incredible thing about seeing them perform live.

The Flaming Lips, an American psychedelic rock band from Oklahoma City, took part the immersive, multi-dimensional music festival. I highly recommend seeing a Flaming Lips concert if you haven't already. It's a colorful, bright, and emotionally charged show that leaves you feeling good. The Hives (11/02/2021 • White Oak Music Hall)
If you love rock 'n' roll, then Swedish five piece The Hives are your band! What an exhilarating evening and intimate setting downstairs at White Oak Music Hall. The room was filled to the brim with enthusiastic fans. The crowd’s thunderous cheers and applause at the sound of the first chords by The Hives rumbled through the house. It was clear that everyone was ready for a night of rock 'n' roll and a fun time. The show was non-stop high-energy concert from beginning to end with a mix of garage and punk with a hint of glam rock. The band members were decked in their signature white and black suits. Their fans were happy to join them for an evening of rock 'n' roll, and we can't wait until they return to Houston! This is an "all around" band that we would highly recommend if you were looking to jump into and enjoying some high-voltage rock 'n' roll!

HOUSTON, Texas - Tobe Nwigwe, a Houston native, held his biggest concert a setting that really brought it all together:  the lawn at White Oak Music Hall. This performance was the final show of his nationwide "Tobe from the SWAT" tour. Nwigwe revitalized new life into the hip hop genre by incorporating avant garde experimental verses, sounds, and visuals; this was particularly evident that night under the stars. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner made a surprise appearance and declared April 20th Tobe Nwigwe Day in Houston, Texas. Nwigwe shared the stage with his wife Fat and sister Nell, demonstrating mutual love and support for one other. Nwigwe is a Houston artist deserving of worldwide recognition.

Photography by Violeta Alvarez
Hey music lovers, your music tastes have taken you here. So let me share a little bit about this awesome band, 'VOLK,' a cow punk band hailing from Cashville, TN. They came through Houston to Black Magic Social Club on November 11th, 2022, supporting the Supersuckers. The duo consists of Chris Lowe (electric guitar and vocals) and Eleot Reich (drums and lead vocals) and they just released an album called 'Cashville'. They put on one hell of a show kicking out their High-Octane cow punk sounds with an undertone of glam. Their energy and excitement were felt in their performance.  You know it's a good show when you don't want the music to stop. Volk is one of those bands that has that kind of effect and had the crowd’s attention. Catch them while you can on tour because they are sure to make some noise in the industry. Below check out the concert photos from the show and Volk's social media links so you can stay in tune with them next time they come through town.
